Day 72/365

3. 5. 2012.
Popcorn popping.

Springtime is one of my favorite times of year. When the flowers bloom and the air gets warmer, it just makes me happy and excited to be able to go outside again. A long time ago I learned a song that any other Mormon has heard, but it goes "I looked out the window and what did I see? Popcorn popping on the apricot tree. Spring has brought me such a nice surprise, blossoms popping right before my eyes," and ever since then whenever I see blossoms on trees that is all I can think of. Georgia is especially known for their dogwood trees and around this time of year there are blossoms like this everywhere and it just makes me think of making a popcorn ball, which is a wonderful welcome to spring!

Day 71/365

3.4.2012.
Locked.

What good is a key without a lock? And what good is a lock without a key? You have to have both the key and the lock for them to serve their full purpose. Sometimes we lock things up, not literally but symbolically; we all have secrets and memories that we keep locked away and don't ever intend on giving the key to anyone, but what's the point in the lock without the key? Maybe, sometimes, we all need to let ourselves open up a little bit and maybe give someone else the keys to things we hold dear to us.

Day 70/365

3.3.2012.
Extraordinary.

Sea creatures have always drawn my attention, they have bright colors and different designs, some are pointy others soft and squishy. I love the aquarium because I love the up close and personal feel that there is with the sea creatures; you can touch sharks, watch whales swim over your head, touch the glass as a fish follows your finger. Each of the creatures there are like people, each has a purpose and a reason to be there. If you think about it it's amazing how every person has a purpose and every little thing really does happen for a reason. We aren't just here to be here, we're here for a reason and to me that's extraordinary.

Day 69/365

3.2.2012.
Amazement.

I wish I were impressed and amazed at more than I am. If just looking at a fish tank brought everyone as much joy and excitement as it does to my little friend here, then the world would be a much happier place. My amazement for tonight was driving home from watching these little boys. A tornado went through our county and ripped up trees and buildings and power was out. I had to try a few different ways to get home, but I already knew the destruction a tornado could cause, what I had never witnessed in real life though was how a tornado can destroy the trees on one side of a road and leave the other side untouched. The concentrated power of those winds amazes me, but not so much a joyful amazement, more of a frightening amazement.

Day 68/365

3.1.2012.
Power.

Electricity, our lives revolve around it. You wake up to an alarm clock, turn on the light; some people have electric toothbrushes; we charge our phones and computers and some people charge their cars; we have televisions and radios and iPads and cameras, all powered by batteries or directly by outlets in the walls. We use electricity everyday and without it our world would be an entirely different place, but part of me thinks that there are things about that world that would be better without electricity. I think we would all be a little bit more active if there weren't so many things we could sit down and do. We'd all have more restful nights if we went to bed when the sun went down and got up with it in the morning, and there'd be less distractions that take away from the more important things in life like the precious time we have with our loved ones. Don't get me wrong though, I use electricity all day everyday and I am very grateful for it, but sometimes I think we all tend to focus on the things that really shouldn't be so important to us.
