Tell yourself something is impossible and it becomes impossible, but if someone else tells you that you can't do something then suddenly you're willing to do anything to succeed. Sometimes it's the challenge that makes things more enticing. If you tell me it's not possible for me to do something that others before me have done, I'll do it; but, tell me something is easy and possible and suddenly it just doesn't seem nearly as exciting. There is an invigorating feeling that comes from doing the seemingly impossible; it's not a feeling that can be duplicated.
