Day 7/365

12.31.11
Perfection.

Every year the 31st of December is a day to remember and a day to forget; some people remember the good times they've had the last year, and some people choose to forget the bad times they've had and move forward. Some people take the 31st to finish their new years resolutions from last year and rush to get everything done, while others just reminisce and look forward to a new year. For me, I'm excited for a new year because of everything that will be changing in my life. I love change and am excited for new experiences; in 2012, I'll decide on a college, turn 18, and move out of my house and out on my own; I'm a little nervous yet very excited. You may not have been perfect last year but this next year is the time to turn over a "new leaf" and make changes and move toward a perfect you, the best you can be.

Day 6/365

12.30.2011
Life is a maze and love is a riddle. ~ "The Show" by Lenka

I love you; it's simple to say but can mean something entirely different depending on who says it. It's 3 words and 8 letters; it's 1 emotion with a million meanings; it can be a big lie and a rare truth. To me it's easier said then done, but in reality "I love you" means more then any other three word phrase. It means you are willing to do anything: willing to fight, willing to suffer, willing to drop everything for the person you are addressing when you say it. It's not just something you toss around and say casually to everyone you meet. When you say it you have to mean it 100%.

Day 5/365

12.29.2011
Light.

Have you ever thought about how much we use light? What if we were still stuck in time a couple hundred years ago? It used to be that when the sun disappeared so did a lot of things; there would be no staying up late, no bright computer screens, and no street lamps. Tonight, I was driving late and realized that without light the roads would have been a mess. As much as light is a necessity in our lives, what if light wasn't so important and didn't flood the world? What if we could walk outside at night and look up and only see thousands of stars, nothing extra, only the natural God-made light? How do you think our world would be without all the extra fluff we find so important?

Day 4/365

12.28.2011
Don't be afraid to fall.

It's incredibly hard for me to trust people. I can rarely take that leap of faith and trust that I won't get hurt and know that I'm in a good situation. The courage it takes to give someone my hand is something I have always struggled with. I think trust is like that feeling you get in your stomach when you miss a step on the stairs; there's nothing else like it and you can't repeat it. You simply stumble upon it by accident.

Day 3/365

12.27.2011
Perspective.

Sometimes you have to get on the ground and look at what is right in front of you. I've learned that sometimes you have to look at things from a different perspective to truly grasp what it is that makes it tick. You can't simply see something and think you actually understand what is happening and why. Ice skating can be full of fun, fear, and falls, but in order to understand how it works you have to get on the ground and look at the blade and the ice; without those two things ice skating is nothing.

Day 2/365

12.26.2011
Behind Bars.

Sometimes I feel like I'm stuck behind the bars of time. There are things I wish I could go back and change, actions I wish I could take back, words I wish had stayed inside of my head. I know I can't go back and change it all, but it's still hard to move forward and just forget it all. So I sit here behind bars sometimes, putting more bars up so history doesn't repeat itself; yet behind these bars, I'm just screaming SOMEONE GET ME OUT OF HERE.

Day 1/365

12.25.2011
Merry Christmas!

It's not X-Mas, it's CHRISTmas. Today is the day people around the world wake up early to stockings full of goodies and presents under their Christmas trees; children smile, families gather, and suddenly it's like everyone gets along. Every year December 25th is a magical day and really and truly it is, but not just because Santa Claus travels around the world delivering presents. For me, I think it's a different kind of magical. For me it is magical that Jesus Christ came to Earth and suffered for our sins and died for us. So today I remembered one thing, an M&M. Someone told me about an interesting tidbit they found on the Internet: If you turn an M&M the "E" becomes an "M" and then a "3" and then a "W". These M&M's tell the story of Christmas. The "E" is for the East, where the star shown so bright. The "M" is for the manger where baby Jesus slept the night. The "3" is for the Wise Men bearing gifts and so they came. "W" is for worship, Hallelujah, praise His name. Remember the real meaning of Christmas. Christmas isn't about the gifts or even the holiday cheer, it's about our Savior coming to Earth and giving us the greatest gift of all, the atonement.
